Julia and Nathan had their wedding in a beautiful loft in Toronto's Distillery District. They were surrounded by a group of intimate friends and family as they shared their vows. Their ceremony was particularly moving for me, because it so nicely captured the coming together of two lives to start a new and shared journey. The ceremony was bilingual, performed in both English and French and Julia and Nathan's families had done their utmost best to reflect how their love transcended one place and one language; becoming a culmination of all their shared experiences. Chief amongst which was their beautiful and lovely one-year-old son, who was also present in their very special and lovely day. Their loved ones shared beautiful poems, speeches, and memories to mark the day and it was truly a joy to witness. |
I think that each wedding is unique, because as familiar as a photographer becomes to the proceedings of the day, there is always at least one thing that surprises everyone on the day. And unexpected unpredictable twists and turns, are not things that we must fear, but usually, they are memorable details that will be forever etched in our memories and colour the day even more than before! Learning to deal with the unexpected has been a gratifying experience on its own. Julia and Nathan's wedding day was no surprise. On that day, Toronto saw one of the most severe summer thunderstorms we had ever seen! Outdoor photos, which are the hallmark of summer weddings, were all done in a short period of time when the sky decided to give us a little bit of an opportunity! |

Jessica and Sipho's wedding was in the midst of Toronto's February cold, but their celebrations were so intimate and warm that they somehow made it a perfect complement to the outside world.
I felt very fortunate to be able to spend time with them for a pre-wedding photo shoot to get to know them better. Their wedding was held in the historic Guild Inn in Scarborough. They are both so incredibly kind and so generous; I wish them a lifetime of love and good companionship. |
When I first met Stephanie to go over her vision and plans for the wedding, I was immediately charmed by her openness and kindness. She and her partner Alex had their pre-wedding photoshoot in Toronto's Edwards Gardens and we took full advantage of the mesmerising autumn colours of October in 2018.
On the wedding day, I was excited alongside them. I sometimes wonder about the universality of the language of love; their ceremony was conducted in Spanish, but the emotions needed no translation for me. |

Ricky and Priya had a gorgeous wedding ceremony and reception surrounded by their loved ones in the summer of 2018.
From getting ready and wearing their beautiful traditional Indian garments, to the personalised congratulatory messages of their siblings, to their first dance, it was all a joy to witness and capture. Their guests had gathered from all around to see and be a part of their celebrations. The reception was truly one of the most energetic and lively things I have experienced! Every one was ready to dance and laugh and make a wonderful send-off for the happy couple. |
When I met Stanley and Carolin, they told me that they had gotten married several years ago, but at the time, did not have a celebration. They wanted to renew their vows and just spend a good time with friends and family.
They held their renewal in their church in September 2018; there was singing and church music. Their friends and family had taken time to say a few words about their relationship and it was very sweet to see and photograph. |
Veronika and Matthew were a sweet, lovely couple I photographed in July 2018. They had met and fallen in love in Toronto and we were fortunate enough to go to the same place they had their first date for a little engagement shoot before their wedding.
They had opted for an incredibly intimate ceremony with just their immediate family. The atmosphere was so different than any other wedding I had witnessed; no long list of posed shots, just parents and siblings to share in their love. |
Rose and Phu were such delightful people to photograph. I was lucky enough to be able to capture them performing a traditional Vietnamese tea ceremony, watch them exchange beautifully-written vows, and see them celebrate in a lovely intimate reception with their loved ones. By the end, we felt like friends. I wish for their love to endure and evolve as they grow together. |
Shannon and Silene held their wedding ceremony at Toronto's City Hall in a lovely day in June. Their ceremony, witty vows, and generosity towards each other made me really emotional. It was also an honour to be able photograph them as the city's Pride flag was at full mast. I wish them a lifetime of happiness! |
I had the pleasure of photographing Aimon and Qasim on a few different occasions. Their celebrations, from the mehndi (the pre-wedding henna ceremony), to the personally-choreographed dances of the bridesmaids and the groomsmen, to the wedding day itself, ranged from colourful to intimate. They were generous enough to teach me about some traditional Pakistani and Afghan traditions along the way!
Wishing them happiness and prosperity! |
